Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty

Tummy Tuch Operation

There might be sagging and deformities in the outline of the abdominal area as a result of the splits that occur after childbearing and anatomical loosening of the abdominal muscles.

Abdominoplasty is a surgical attempt to remove the excess skin and fatty tissues of the middle and lower parts of the abdominal area so that the muscles of the abdominal walls become tighter and the waist circumference becomes narrower. Liposhaping may be performed together with the tummy tuck operation.

Who can have abdominoplasty?

The suitable candidates for this attemptprocedure are both men and women who have a good abdominal shape and experience complaints about excess fat or loose skin on the abdominal area, which they cannot get rid of through diet or exercising. Women who plan to bear children in the future might experience  a lossening in their abdominal muscles after childbearing even though they had their muscles tightened by having  surgery before. Therefore they it is recommended that they wait until they have given birth to have the operation. Abdominoplasty is performed  in two different ways. Mini-abdominoplasty is applied for those who have mild streaching and sagging on their lower abdominal area while abdominoplasty is performed on women who have serious streaching and sagging on their abdominal area.

It is important to start moving as early as possible after the operation. It is recommended that the patients give up smoking for a certain period of time before and after the operation since it retards the healing process.

Abdominoplasty is performed under anesthesia in the hospital. The total tummy tuck operation lasts 2-3 hours depending on the extent of the operation. Partial abdominoplasty may take 1 or 2 hours.

Your abdominal area will probably be swollen for a few days and you might experience pain which can be controlled by simple painkillers. You can spend one or two days in the hospital depending on the level of the operation.

Whether full or partial, abdominoplasty will yield good results in those patients whose abdominal muscles have weakened or with those who have extra skin in their abdominal area.
