Eye Brow Transplant

Eye Brow Transplant

Eye Brow Transplant

The eyes are the most characteristic features of the face. By framing the eyes, the eyebrows play a big role in creating different expressions on the face. There is no cosmetic or medicine based treatment to make the eye brows that were lost regrow.

Eye brow transplant can be defined as the transfer of healthy follicles which are genetically programmed ‘never to be lost’, taken from a ‘donor area’ behind the head between the two ears into the eye brow area.

This process begins with the consultation the patient has with the plastic surgeon in which the patient decides on the eyebrow form he desires. Later the patient is given sedatives and local anesthesia is applied to the area. The operation takes approximately one hour and the patient may take a bath 24 hours later the operation.

There might be a slight redness or a scab on the transplanted area during the four days after the operation. The area recovers, on average, seven days after the operation. It takes 3-6 months to observe growth of the transplanted eyebrow hair. Although a second attempt is usually not necessary, the improvement is checked after six months and a second session is performed to get the desired result if there is a need.

The angles and the directions of the hairs on the eyebrow are very different from the ones on the head. While the hair growing out of the head has a 45 degree angle, the hairs on the eye brows grow almost parallel to the skin. The roots in this area grow upright on the intersection area with the nose; downward on the upper brow area and upward on the lower region. They all become one single line at the spot where they come together. The roots taken from the scalp should be replaced as extra thinned follicular units into tiny channels on the skin so that there is no sign left on the area after the process.

New brows grow much faster than the original hair. Therefore after the transplant your new brows will grow faster than your normal brows, especially during the first year after the operation. After a year the brows will adapt to the original pace of the area.
