Hair Transplantation

Hair Transplantation

Hair transplantation is a process in which the hair roots called follicular units are removed individually and implanted into the new area.

The hair transplantation operation is a complicated procedure and it is necessary that it is performed with a doctor’s contribution. It is critical that the operation is managed by an expert team in order to ensure a natural appearance, density of the hair and protection of the donor areas.

Donor area: healthy adults who have sufficient a amount of hair in the area between the two ears are considered suitable for hair transplant istanbul.

Hair transplantation is an operation that takes 6 to 8 hours under local anesthesia. In the first stage the follicular units are collected by the doctors. Then a channel is opened in order to transplant the units that were collected. In the last stage each unit is transplanted individually.

There is no ache or pain during the operation because of the effect of local anesthesia. Provided that the prescribed drugs are used by the patient, there will not be any pain after the operation either. The transplantation operation can be described as an easy procedure in terms of comfort for the patient as the patient is in a lying position in the first stage and sitting on an orthopedic couch in the second stage.

There is no specifically suggested season for hair transplantation. The operation may be performed any time during the 12 months of the year. Hair transplantation performed in summer is by no means an obstacle for enjoying the sea. The hair grows faster in summer and skin regeneration is observed to be more rapid.

In an operation performed by an expert doctor and an experienced team, no thinning will be observed on the areas where the follicles are taken from. The transplanted hair will last for a lifetime, it will never be lost. Transmed guarantees that the results of the transplantation will be natural.

Grafts will vary between 2500 and 4000 in number, which means 7500-8000 follicles, depending on the donor area of the patient. Please keep in mind that the graft number is different from the number of the follicles. There will be a thin layer of scabbing in 8-10 days following the operation, which will fall off like dandruff and be cleared away each time you wash your hair. It will totally disappear by the 10th day. The patient may continue his work and his daily life but must wear a hat.

The hair will start to grow in the three months following the operation. The desired result will be discerned only after 6 months to 1 year have passed.

What’s the FUE method?

FUE is the abbreviation for ‘Follicular Unit Extraction’. The root units to be transferred are taken out from the skin separately with a special instrument and implanted into their new places. This method also provides an opportunity to pull out the hairs of the body and use them.

Fue method requires that the patient has a very short haircut. In case the number of the follicles to be transferred is not high, it might be enough for the patient to have a regional shave or no shaving at all if she has long hair. According to Transmed philosophy, the success of the transplantation depends on obtaining a natural look. There are three factors that affect the naturalness of the appearance. First is the density of the hair transplanted. The average density consists of 70-100 follicular units per a few cm2 (FU/cm2) which means there are 30 follicular units that show hair; 20 or less that have thinned and 10 or less units where the hair is lost and the skin is clearly seen.

Therefore, 30 follicular units per cm2 will be enough for a single transplantation. The density element would not suffice for a natural look. More dense hair does not necessarily mean a more natural look. The important thing is to distribute the hair towards the region that is thinner in hair.

The second factor is to insert the follicles at the correct angle.

The third factor is that the process should be performed under 3-D magnification, as the naked eye would not be able to differentiate such a keen practice. The process is nothing but imitating reality on a microscopic level.
